Description

This slide shows paper mill workers inspecting freshly crafted paper coming off of an automated paper machine. Automated paper machines were originally developed in 1803, when it was introduced to Frogmore Paper Mill in Apsley, Hertfordshire. Holyoke, Massachusetts was initially designed as an industrial city focused on the manufacturing of textiles with a particular emphasis on paper. The city at its height created eighty percent of all paper products used in the United States, giving it the nickname "Paper City."
