These are files collected by Bill Donner and others concerning various aspects of Pennsylvania German or Pennsylvania Dutch culture.

There are video recordings of Groundhog Lodge meetings and fersommlinge (Versammlinge), occasions with food, song, humor, skits, speeches, all done in the Pennsilfaanisch Deitsch language. I am indebted to Ellen Perez for providing me with the recordings from the Huff’s Church fersommlinge.

There are video recordings of presentations, interviews, and performances from the Kutztown Folk Festival. Many of the recordings were made by Jackie Zabel in 2010. I am grateful for her willingness to share her recordings.

There are video life histories of Pennsylvania Germans recorded by Dr. Jennifer Schlegel and me of people describing what it was like to “Grow Up Dutch.” Many of the recordings were taken at the Kutztown Folk Festival.

are video recordings of “Liar’s Contests” recorded by Bill Donner at the Kutztown Folk Festival. Each participant tells their story in Pennsilfaanisch Deitsch and then follows with an English translation.

There are two collections of audio recordings of Reverend Clarence Rahn (1898-1977). Reverend Rahn was considered the most popular speaker of the Pennsilfaanisch Deitsch language at Groundhog Lodges and fersommlinge. He also was a very popular speaker in English. One set of recordings is in Deitsch. The other in English. We are grateful to his daughter, Ruth Schaefer for sharing these recordings.
