Description
Lantern slide of the Lustgarden and statue of King Friederich Wilhelm III in Berlin, circa 1905.
The Lustgarten, a large public square on the Museumsinsel in Berlin, still exists. However, the Reiterstandbild Friedrich Wilhelms III., a bronze equestrian statue of Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III., no longer stands in the center of the square.
The statue was erected in 1876 and was a popular tourist attraction for many years. However, it was damaged during World War II and was subsequently dismantled by the East German government in 1956. The statue was later restored and is now on display at the Bode-Museum on the Museumsinsel.
