Description

Lantern slide, circa 1905, of the Old Well on Huntington, Long Island, New York. The well is said to have been dug by Walt Whitman's father in the early 1800s. It is still on the Whitman estate, which is a popular tourist attraction. The well is referenced in the famous poem I Sing the Body Electric by Walt Whitman.
