Abstract
KidsPeace is a private community-based organization founded in 1882. This program serves the behavioral and mental health needs of at-risk youth populations. KidsPeace offers psychiatric hospital treatment, residential treatment programs, educational services, trauma-informed care, and community living programs. I had the opportunity to intern as a Mental Health Technician at KidsPeace Orefield residential treatment facility. I learned skills such as crisis intervention techniques, verbal de-escalation, and behavioral methods to better the lives of youth at KidsPeace. I worked closely with Social Work clinicians developing more knowledge in individual and family therapy.
