Oppression begins on an individual level in the minds of the people who make up a society. The normalization of oppressing views only gives those views more to keep continuing. When the collective members of the society all reciprocate similar beliefs, views and thoughts that is when it oppression begins. It is also the beginning of racial and gender discrimination. Society's views are reflected within how they treat the people in their society. Oppression of various groups of people only limits who can move up in the social class system. It exists to only keep certain individuals gaining the most success while others suffer.
