Description
During the early 1900s, cowboys worked to maintain ranches and drive cattle across long distances in the American West. They used lassos to catch and control the livestock by throwing the looped rope around the animals to assist them in their work. Lassoing cattle allowed cowboys and ranchers to brand and treat their animals by keeping them in place. In this image, it is difficult to tell exactly what the cowboy is doing, it looks like he is either holding the cow in place for branding or for providing it medical care.
