Description
The Egyptian city of Alexandria was once a hub for Hellenic learning and science, with the great Library of Alexandria being world renowned even into modern times. The city was established as the capital of Egypt when it was founded in 332 BCE by Alexander the Great, remaining the capital until 642 CE when it was seized by Arab forces. Alexandria is one of Egypt’s largest cities and acts as a prominent Mediterranean Sea and Nile River port. The slide shows the sprawling city of Alexandria in the 1905.
