Description
The banana trade came to Costa Rica in the late 1800s, due to a new railroad being built in the area. American businessman Minor C. Keith is reported to have experimented with planting them along the route of the railroad he was helping to build. It was very common in this era to use donkeys as a way to carry and transport bananas.
