Description
During the Revolutionary War, when the founding fathers were creating the framework for American democracy, George Washington stayed at this Newburgh home for the final year and a half of the war. This was his longest serving headquarters during the war, with it being in use for 16 months and 19 days. It was the first property to be acquired and preserved by any U.S. state for historical reasons, and is the oldest standing home in the City of Newburgh.
