Description

The Morehouse Comet was first photographed on September 1st, 1908 (although not discovered until the following day). The Morehouse Comet was discovered by graduate student Daniel Morehouse at Yerkes Observatory in Williams Bay, Wisconsin.

The comet was observed all over the world over a 249-day period, last seen in Santiago, Chile on May 10th, 1909. The comet was reported as whimsical in its behavior, that one could not predict its ever-changing shape. The comet’s tail grew and shrunk in both shape and brightness. The copyright by Yerkes Observatory is now in the Public Domain.
