Description
The Blue Ridge mountain range is a section of the Appalachian Mountains in the Eastern United States, spanning 550 miles across multiple states, including North Carolina. The peaks within the mountain range include Mount Mitchell, which is the highest mountain in the Eastern United States, and Mount Toxaway, which serves as the photographer’s viewing point and the future site of a wildfire lookout tower (installed in 1935). The mountain range is known for having a bluish haze created by nearby trees releasing isoprene into the air.
