This image shows a woman in traditional clothing looking out onto a valley in Nova Scotia. She is dressed in a white bonnet, which means that it was Sunday, and she was attending church that day. The Acadians first settled in Canada in 1605 having come from France. Many Acadians were forced out of Canada between 1755 and 1763. Most Acadians who were forced out of Canada settled in Louisiana and became known as Cajun.
