Description
The Wawona Tree is a giant sequoia in Yosemite National Park in California, United States, most famous for the hole in the center. The tree’s hole formed in 1881 as two men enlarged an existing burn scar to increase tourism as part of the See America First campaign in 1915. People would often photograph themselves and their cars in the tunnel. The tree fell in February 1969, rebranded as the Fallen Tunnel Tree.
