Description
This image shows a view of New York City from across the East River in 1905. The Woolworth Tower appears on the right side of the New York City skyline, being the tallest building in the city at the time. The river shows busy tugboat and barge traffic as bulk goods were ferried between manufacturers and merchants. At the bottom of the image, opposite the New York City skyline is one of the city’s many dockyards, with the slide showing ships occupying some of the berths.
