Auki is the provincial capital for Sikaiana. Boats to Sikaiana stopped briefly on their trips to and from Sikaiana. The boat stays in Auki for a couple hours. It took about 24 hours to get from Sikaiana to Auki (the boat circumvents Malaita Island). Took about 12 hours to get from Auki to Honiara, the capital. During my stays in 1980-83 and in 1987 boats usually went about once a month. In 2020 trips are more sporadic.
