Sikaiana: Tenaru

Tenaru is about 17 km outside of Honiara. It is very near the location of the initial Marine Landing on Guadalcanal, August 7, 1942, during World War II. A number of Sikaiana families reside there. It is the location for many Sikaiana celebrations, including parties, marriages, sports competitions and fundraising event. It is also the location of a cultural village. These photos were taken from 1980-1993 by Bill Donner.
