Abstract
Artist's statement, 2019 for June-September Pennsylvania Art of the State Exhibit: "The I Ching, ancient Chinese book of divination, combines two trigrams LI, representing fire, into hexagram 30, Flaming Beauty. In this piece the artist uses custom, interactive software to apply LI trigrams as paintbrushes, manipulating the canvas after it has already been painted. This manipulation of the canvas-as-recent-visual-memory dominates the composition." 4 minutes 32 seconds.
