Description
The Keokuk Power Dam and Locks was an immense engineering project to harness the power of the Mississippi River by constructing a massive dam stretching between Keokuk, Iowa and Hamilton, Illinois. At the time of its completion in 1913, the dam was the longest concrete dam in the world, spanning nearly a mile long and including a 110-foot-wide pneumatic lock system. The slide shows an aerial view of the Keokuk Power Dam stretching across the Mississippi River.
