Comments
This story was told by Josi on Sikaiana in 1981. The transcription was done by Bill Donner and reviewed by John Kilatu. But John Kilatu is not responsible for any inaccuracies. The translation was done by Donner in 2021 and both the transcription and translation have problems. I include this tala because Mautikitiki is the Sikaiana version of the hero throughout Polynesia often known as Maui, and has even been made a character in a Hollywood movie.
The file is an mp3 recording, I am including a wav file and a transcription.
